MikTeX Update Wizard trouble after update

Good morning.

I just proceeded to update my MikTeX installation to 2.9.6100 release on my
32 bit Windows XP installation. MixTeX worked like a charm until now.
I saw that there were many packages to update but, as usual, main
MikTeX binaries have been downloaded first. However, after this seemingly
successful process, I tried to run the updated version of MikTeX Wizard
to get all the other stuff and I happened to stumble into an error message:
"Sorry, but something went wrong: SSL connect error". Update log file
lists the following:

2016-10-31 14:45:26,765+0100 INFO Update - starting: Update Wizard
(MiKTeX 2.9.6100)
2016-10-31 14:45:36,656+0100 INFO FileCopyPage -
2016-10-31 14:45:36,656+0100 INFO FileCopyPage - Error: SSL connect error
2016-10-31 14:45:36,687+0100 INFO FileCopyPage -
2016-10-31 14:45:36,687+0100 INFO FileCopyPage - Error: Windows API
error 0: Operazione completata.
2016-10-31 14:45:36,687+0100 INFO FileCopyPage -

Is there someone else who is getting the same message? Could someone
please help
to find a way out? I suppose that a newer release may fix this issue
but all the online
update machinery is temporarily blocked.
Thank you very much in advance for your concern.

Kind regards,
Maurizio
