MikTex 2.9 64Bit on Window 10

Trying to install constantly received error message "Permission denied 
.... Details: ...\AppData\Local\Temp\Miktex\....lzma".
Finally installed Basic MikTex by going to Safe Boot.
Now all boldface letters using \mathbf{} are missing in pdf file! i.e., 
blank instead of the symbol.  Have checked that all Math packages are 
installed, but to no avail.
I have always used TexnicCenter and MikTex.
