Problem with Miktex Settings GUI

I have been having difficulties with the MikTeX Settings GUI. I have tried
to use "UPdate formats" several times, but it freezes up. Can I clear some
buffer or something? The Admin dialog no longer comes up, and the local
dialog does not complete.

MikTex 2.9, Revision 2.9.5845
