problems with updates | repos 'out of date'?

Good evening --

Tried updating MikTeX on one of my several machines -- doesn't matter
which repository I point the updater console at -- get the following
error message:

"The remote package repository is outdated. You have to choose another
repository."

This puzzles me, since that can't all be outdated (can they?).

Suggestions? If it matters/helps, most recent package updates on this
particular system have a date stamp of 9/25/2018.

I'm not overly concerned at present, since I have a working system
(several, actually), and don't really need to update. Except that I like
to keep one of my install as current as possible, just to test things out.

Thank you in advance...
