I do not know what Omega has to do with this, but LaTeX2e does the same
thing:

\documentclass[a4paper]{article}
\begin{document}
\textbf{\textit{Some thing}} = \textit{\textbf{Some thing}} =
=\textbf{\textit{\textbf{Some thing}}}
\end{document}
