Ok, thanks. I have fixed both problems in t1lib.ac and recreated all
configure scripts.

texk/kpathsea and texk/xdvik have both their own version of xt.ac.
For top-level, I have decided to use xdvik's version. I agree that it
would be desirable to resolve the conflicts.

It would almost double the size of the compressed texmf tarball. And:
the lm fonts are included. They are not autotraced and of a better
quality. They don't contain as many glyphs, but give them a chance
(\usepackage{lmodern}). Maybe, that's just what you need...
