2.96.7 builds using MIPSpro compilers on Irix 6.5.22m and things that
broke with pdftex-1.20a-rc6 are working. Something odd in configure
(lines wrapped for clarity):

1st referenced by conftest.o.
So similar tests but the source file either before or after the
libraries! This problem has been around for a while, and gcc
behaves the same (no surprise -- on Irix gcc uses SGI ld).
