don updated the arrow fonts some time in 1994-95 after the type 1
fonts were created.

the pfb files also contain the old \delta that doesn't meet don's
preferences, iirc.

the only places i know of that have pfb files that satisfy don are the
commercial versions.  i don't know about cm-super; perhaps the new lmr
files will have the don-approved arrows and \delta.
