I'm just writing a shell script (as requested by Karl) which downloads
and installs fonts which can be used freely but cannot be burnt on a
CD due to copyright issues.

So I'm quite interested in having all the files already installed
which are needed to use the fonts, especially the map files.

Karl asked me to support the AFPL fonts supported by Walter.

I hope that I don't miss anything. At the moment by script installs

      eurofont: Euro symbols (Adobe).
      garamond: GaramondNo8 (URW).
      lettergothic: LetterGothic (URW).
      utopia: Utopia (Adobe).

If it should download/install anything else, please let me know.

This is the usage message of the script:
_____________________________________________________________________________
  USAGE: getfont[-sys] [options] font

  DESCRIPTION:
getfont downloads and installs fonts which can be used
freely but cannot be distributed for legal reasons.

getfont installs the fonts in \$TEXMFHOME.
getfont-sys installs the fonts in \$TEXMFLOCAL.

  SUPPORTED FONTS:

      eurofont: Euro symbols (Adobe).
      garamond: GaramondNo8 (URW).
      lettergothic: LetterGothic (URW).
      utopia: Utopia (Adobe).

  OPTIONS:

--afm Download and install afm files as well. You don't
need them unless you know what they are good for.

--ctan=<CTAN-node> The --ctan option can take one of the following
                     arguments:

                     de (for ftp.dante.de, Hamburg, Germany)
uk (for ftp.tex.ac.uk, Cambridge, United Kingdom)
us (for tug.ctan.org, Colchester, VT, USA)

                     default is uk (ftp.tex.ac.uk).

This option does not have any effect if the font you
are going to install does not reside on CTAN.

--sys getfont behaves like getfont-sys. See the manual of
your TeX system for details about <program>-sys.

      --help This message.

ENVIROMNENT: The environment variable CTAN can be used to specify
the default CTAN node. The argument is an URL, for
instance you can put into your ~/.profile:

                          CTAN="ftp://ftp.dante.de"
                          export CTAN

  EXAMPLE:
                     getfont --afm --ctan=us utopia

Download and install Adobe Utopia fonts and afm files
                     from the US CTAN node.

Ralf, Walter, are there any other fonts I should support?

Thomas, I am not able to use vanilla ftp like this:

  ftp ftp.dante.de < responses

I don't know why it doesn't work. Thus I search for other ftp clients
and use the first one I find.

The current version of the script is at:

    http://ms25.ath.cx/getfont.gz

Regards,
  Reinhard
