I use it to install packages that aren't part of teTeX and to upgrade packages which change more quickly than teTeX does. Read <http://dojo.miktex.org/forums/133/ShowPost.aspx>. The beta release has one bug (related to the options --install-some --upgrade-some) which is fixed in CVS and a new beta is one the way. In my view, this is the way to go since many central packages (like hyperref) change very frequently and we can't expect teTeX to be updated at such a pace. Regards, Hans
