Maybe the question about the dvips default output should be discussed
once more. From the responses I see the most people now tend to have
file as a default output in dvips. If there's a confimation from Thomas
that this change is planned, say from the next teTeX release, the
behavior of dvips can be changed downstream even before it's released to
satisfy the demand of the user's majority and to make the dvips output
change to file "not a bug".
