teTeX and TeXLive have very different target groups. teTeX targets
simple configure/make/make install Unix setups. TeXLive is a
ready-to-run media with the ability to copy over unix/windows/mac
binaries to your hard disk or run them from the DVD.

For me there are worlds apart from the two projects even if the
sources are the same. Which means that the two projects can share a
lot of course, or even merge/swallow eachother, if the goals are
adapted, but as it stands neither can replace the other.

decisions based on newbies' ignorance.
