Debian unstable (sid) isn't interesting since it is only usable for
hackers that can work around serious breakages in their system [1].
Debian stable contains a 20011202 beta of teTeX that is quite outdated.

[1] testing is better in this respect, but it's changing daily,
and you might have to wait many months until an important
security update enters testing
