Lucida Fonts in teTeX

Dear teTeX users I've been bumbling along with TeX for years without really understanding what I'm doing, so please don't be too horrified at the descriptions of my hacking below. :-) Some years ago (c. 2000), I purchased the Lucida Bright fonts from Y&Y and they have been following me around ever since. They used to work just fine, but recently they stopped working when I upgraded teTeX, which I had not done for a couple of years. (I notice another subscriber to this list had the same problem a few months ago.) I used to be able to just drop them in the fonts/type1/yandy directory, run texhash and go, but not any more. This puzzled me for a quite a while, but then, comparing my old and new teTeX installation, I noticed that tex/latex/lucidabr/ot1hlh.fd was missing in the new version. Thinking this could be the cause, I copied it over. This then produced errors (which I took to be a sign of encouragement) related to the fact that pdflatex, or rather Metafont, couldn't find hlhr7t. I then discovered that a bunch of .tfm and .vf files in the fonts/(tfm|vf)/bh/lubright directory weren't in the new tetex. Copying these over, I now have the use of my Lucida fonts again, sort of. I say 'sort of' because I get errors like this now when I run pdflatex: checksum mismatch in local font hlhrc8r in virtual font hlhrc7t.vf ignored. Nevertheless, I get Lucida fonts in my PDF output again. I know what I have done is a horrible hack. Can anyone enlighten me as to the 'right' way to get my Lucida fonts to work? I suspect that something has changed in the Y&Y Lucida fonts since I bought them in 2000 which has caused this problem? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers - Vaughan
