Good point. I use the LinuxFromScratch books to build my systems, and I install everything in /usr. So for teTeX I use --prefix=/usr --disable-multiplatform . Even if /usr/bin/readlink does not get overwritten by a default teTeX install, it would IMO be a Good Thing if the teTeX configure would detect an installed readlink and, if one is found, not install its own version. I see that the teTeX readlink appears to be part of kpathsea, should I discuss this with the kpathsea folks rather than with the teTeX people?
