Well, all UNIX systems that I have seen so far allow me this rename
operation, since I own the temp. pk file. If, for some reason, this does
not work in your system (I still wonder why), then you have to manually
patch texconfig (replace 1777 by 777), rerun "texconfig fonts rw" and
remove the option "appendonlydir" (texconfig -> FONT -> OPTIONS).

Has anybody else seen this behaviour (rename of your own file not allowed
in "sticky" directories owned by someone else, permissions 1777)?
