The newest tetex version in <CTAN:systems/unix/teTeX/current/distrib/>
is 2.0.2 of 28.02.2003, containing LaTeX2e <1996/12/01>.  There have
been 2 official latex releses since, so the distribution is terribly
outdated in this respect.
