It works for me with gs7.07, gs8.14 and gs8.30. Is this gsftopk an
unmodified version?  My output includes no "V" between the version number
of gsftopk and gs, e.g.

    $ gsftopk ptmb8r 600
    gsftopk(k) version 1.19.2/707
    [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [11] [12] [...

There are issues with some versions of gs which affect a small percentage
of fonts, see
