two (maybe unrelated) questions

Hello,

(A) Please, consider the following four attempts of super- and subindexing:

$${A}^{kk_{ed}}$$

$${A}_{{jjj}^{qq}}$$

$${AA}_{jj}^{kk}$$

$${A}^{kk_{ed}}}_{{jjj}^{qq}}$$

In the first two cases I get exactly the results I expect using the amsmath library, but in the third case, the alignment of the the superscript index is not aligned to the referred part (that is, AA), as it is the case with the subscript index, but appears aligned to the latter. 


In the fourth case, no rendering occurs whatsoever. 
I am aware of the package “subsupscripts”, but it does not bring me further either. 

Can you please help me?

Connected to the above and just a wild guess: does it matter what font I use when writing math snippets? What would be the most versatile font for the MacTeX 2024 version?
