Using MacTeX (Beginner)

Hello, I am very familiar with LaTeX code, but I am having some issues with MacTeX (the main one being that I am not sure how to create a document… the PDF isn’t showing up when I save the script). I read the intro “read me" file, but I guess I may have misunderstood it. Any help is very appreciated! Thank you, Ashley
