Autoupdate and TeXShop

I recently installed TeXShop on my Macbook Air.  There is evidently an
update that I should install, but when I run the installation I get a
window that says that "TeXShop (Autoupdate) wants to make changes", and
asks for a password.  I don't believe I established a password for TeXShop,
and so I have no idea what to do.  I would rather not disable autoupdate in
system settings, and in any case I'm not sure that that would hel

I previously had a Dell PC running Windows 10, and used WinEdt as my
editor, so I'm unfamiliar with TeXShop.  I'm unable to find useful
information on the web.
