Thanks, Jonathan, for the great quote from Tom Jefferson about
document preservation by multiple copies, rather than lock and key.
Librarians have a great acronym:

	LOCKSS: Lot Of Copies Keeps Stuff Safe

Too bad that in Ancient Greece and Egypt, that the great library
in Alexandria was not replicated.  Their issue, of course, was
the great cost of manually copying written texts, a problem that
was not solved until the invention of printing presses in China
and Europe.
