I wouldn't bother to test with old versions of Autoconf/Automake. Only
developers are expected to have those tools - everyone else can just run
./configure && make. It's okay to require developers who want to edit
the build sources to keep up to date as they usually have the skills.
And aside from the occasional temporary bug, the generated configure and
makefiles only get more and more portable with new releases...
Anyhow, if you decide to upgrade to something more recent than 1.7.9 &
2.58, please let me know so I can upgrade too.
