I don't know what's happening for sure, but we can probably debug it if 
we need to.  Sometimes the hacked CollabNet version of CVS we're 
required to run on cvshome.org exhibits bugs that don't show up in CVS 
proper.  Of course, "cvs [update aborted]: cannot write <CVS/Template 
file>: No such file or directory" sounds to me like a cascading local 
permissions problem - messages from the server are usually prefixed with 
"cvs server:", or "cvs [server aborted]", though maybe not always.

Do you have changes you need to import from your current sandbox, or can 
you try a fresh checkout?
