FWIW, this is the standard style of GNU documentation, used also in
Emacs manuals and in many other places.  I never found the resulting
indentation of examples or their results to be excessive.  And the
examples you posted don't look ugly to me, either.

That said, I have nothing against making @exampleindent work in Info
output, of course.
