when I refer to the gawk manual, it looks like this:
http://www.gnu.org/software/gawk/manual/gawk-3.1.1/html_node/Very-Simple.html

But I remember that older versions of gawk manuals on the web had
those silly section numbers, too.

I don't know whether the problem is solved by a newer version of
conversion program or whether you have to give an option.
