Re: encodings and cross references

BTW, I was reading the Unicode 4.0 book last night, and noticed that
their annex UAX#15: Unicode Normalization is specifically on the topic
of methods for ensuring equivalent strings (precomposed/decomposed) have
identical memory representations.  Apparently there are a number of
choices (of course).  I haven't actually read it.
