Nevertheless I would like to reemphasize that there is still one nasty
bug in Texinfo: the lack of @documentlanguage support.
I wish there was only one nasty bug left :).
Anyway, I don't have the previous discussion at hand, but I don't recall
the conclusion being that it wasn't too hard to fix! On the contrary,
it seems quite a large change to me, since every translation needs to be
inspected to see whether it is $LANG or @doclang. Not to mention
writing the infrastructure to make it work, making sure the strings
still end up in the files for the translators to see, etc., etc.
Anyway, it is up to Alper, there's no chance I will have time to do it,
unfortunately. If he would like to work on it now, and thinks it won't
take too horribly long, that's great. Otherwise, it'll have to wait for
the next release, along with so much else ...
