You don't tell what class you are using, but it's probably seminar since
you are talking about \centerslidetrue - even though the command
is actually called \centerslidestrue... This is a feature, and not a bug.

Could you please supply a *minimal* example that compiles and shows the
problem. (I don't have time construct it myself.) The first I think of
is to use \bstep in stead of \step, but it's hard to tell without seeing
what you are trying to do.
