Aaahh, now we're talking. Your example does the trick much more cleanly
than my ugly hack. Is there any reason why TeXpower has a builtin
definition for color: inactivecolor but none for color: dimcolor, which
would correspond to the manual \colorbetween in your example (after all
\hidedimmed makes use of that color already) ?
