Well, I can tell you what I do to create handouts from my slides:

\documentclass[12pt,fleqn,calcdimensions]{seminar}
\usepackage{fixseminar}
\usepackage[display]{texpower} %For the "slide" version OR
\usepackage{texpower} %for the "handout" version
\pdfpagewidth=11truein
\pdfpageheight=8.5truein

Run the file through pdflatex, then
acroread -toPostScript -landscape <file.pdf |mpage -Ra

This produces 4 slides/page in landscape mode. [file.pdf is of course the 
name of your output file.]
