If you have still problems, please get > back. Thank you so much, dear CVR. updmap didn't help. So, I then did the second command and got the .ps file, which I converted into pdf without problems. This is so important for me since I do all my writing in LaTeX. It is so convenient because I can save all my references and other such details as comments in the .tex file itself.
