Hello TUG members,

First, as Barry Mackichan announced on texhax (https://lists.tug.org/texhax=
)
,
his Scientific Word product (an advanced front end for LaTeX) is now
available at no cost. The code is identical to the former commercial
version, but the activation process no longer requires a serial number
and is therefore free. Links to download the code and the manuals for
versions 5.5 and 6, and other information:
  https://www.mackichan.com/

Upcoming conferences:

- Didier Verna will give a video talk, in French, September 10, 2025,
on "Traitement des mes de similarit\'e dans la justification de
paragraphe : une extension du Knuth-Plass".

See also his TUGboat article, in English, on his interactive platform
  for experimenting with line breaking:
  https://tug.org/TUGboat/tb44-2/tb137verna-realtime.pdf

- GuIT 2025, in Pisa, Italy, November 5, 2025. Pre-registration is
required, by September 30, but there is no registration fee.

- DANTE spring meeting, March 12-14, 2026, at WiWa GmbH,
  Lahnau, Germany (pre-meeting get-together on March 11).
  https://www.dante.de/veranstaltungen/dante2026/

- We are planning for the TUG 2026 conference to take place in Calgary
or Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in one of the latter weekends in July 2026.
We will make announcements and update web pages as information becomes
  available, as always.

Also on the conference front, the TUG'25 proceedings and videos for the
individual talks are both in progress.

The deadline for the next issue of TUGboat is October 3, 2025.
Submissions are welcome and appreciated.
