shrink factor - newbie question

Hi all,

I'm sorry to ask a dumb question, but I can't find a helpful answer anywhere.

I'm using Ubuntu (Jaunty) and emacs and auctex to make LaTeX dvis
which I then view with xdvi.  Every time I run view from Auctex the
file comes up with the default zoom level of 8, which looks terrible
on my screen.  Rather then change it every time, I'd like to change
the default setting.

I saw that the variable of interest is shrink factor, and that I need
to set this.  But, how do I do that???
