The cursor arrow in the magnifier window serves no
purpose, and is detrimental: it obscures the detail for
which the magnifier window is opened, so that the
cursor must be moved in order to see the detail.

The cursor arrow should disappear whenever the
magnifier window is open.

Implemented in version 22.84.14-CVS1: Make cursor invisible when magnifier
is popped up.

I agree with this proposal. At least, the cursor should be hidden until the
mouse is moved for the first time. Up to now (22.84.12, Motif 2.3), the
scales at the border of the magnifier window are shown not until the first
mouse movement. The same should apply for the cursor.

Nevertheless, a total abandonment of the cursor will not be a disprofit. I
think that the disadvantage of irritating the eye weights more because for
locating the details one has to 'squint' aside the center of the magnifying
glass.
