Summary: t1lib to libfreetype2 transition

Initial Comment:
Dear all,
it seems that t1lib is not developed anymore, and distributions are starting to drop t1lib completely, which will create problems for xdvi in the long run. See for example the following to links:
http://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/source-package/t1lib
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=637040

Is there any chance that a transition to libfreetype2 is going to happen?

Thanks a lot

Hi

Good to hear, thanks. I guess we have to wait.

BTW, have you been contacted concerning inclusion of Japanese support
(pxdvi)? They also included some changes for freetype2, so it might be
useful to do all in one go, if you agree to merge the pxdvi patches. I can
send you all of them, they are in my tlptexlive repository and build
script.

Thanks

Norbert

Message:
It's in the works. For some time I've had freetype2 support in an
unreleased version of plain xdvi, but there were some things that I wanted
to add before releasing it.

So this should happen in the near future. But not before the code freeze
for TL 2012 :-)
