I don't have a lot of info on this, but to me what Bram is suggesting seems
like a really good idea. Abstract the "good parts" of SConf so it can be
used by more than one system, then that will get more eyeballs and more
people contributing tests to it. The tests just need to be abstracted so
they take a set of variables and produce some results -- it's all python, so
seems like it should be pretty easy to write an API for it. Maybe it has to
be at a pretty low level in order to fit into both aap and scons (and a
possible standalone tool), but it definitely seems worthwhile to me. The
only downside would be if it sucked energy away from other needed things
without producing good results. But it sounds to me like both projects
would stand to benefit.
