That actually isn't true; it is just much more common to have paths with
whitespace in their name in windows which show quoting problems. Using
system() to start processes makes it very hard to do things correctly
since it really isn't designed for that.

I'm not sure of popen5 supports windows, but if it does it would be a
much better way to start processes.
