After some more thinking and discussions, John Williams claims he can
make "var" work like "_no.var" in Python code. This is a much cleaner
solution, the Python code can be real Python code. Who knows, perhaps
some day Python will use the "$" character itself.
Therefore, I have backed out the support for $var in Python code. This
avoids that people really start using it.
John is currently working on the new implementation, hopefully we can
start testing it soon.
I tried checking in the new version, but the CVS server appears to be
refusing connections. I'll do it asap.
