Sorry, I know it's lame to reply to my own message.

This is just a note to say that I found the magic "CVS=no" incantation
needed to build the vim port.  This should really be more visible, as
if I hadn't been impressed with the BSDCon Europe 02 paper I probably
would have given up at the first problem.

A-A-P now seems to do just what I want, thanks.
