You also might consider designing the UI so that it's usable even on a very small display (say, 200x320). It's not that hard or limiting, it just takes some thinking. It would then be very easy to port and cross-compile it for the GPE environment (handhelds.org). Currently I use a port of the console version on my IPAQ, but I'd love to see a usable GUI version. In this regard it's also very important to minimize the dependencies - no one is going to port the FOX version to handheld devices, because the FOX library takes a lot of space and no other apps make use of it. But if your GTK version of the GUI depended only on GLIB and GTK, then the porting would be a trivial effort.
