Hello Richard,

memaid 's data format is not highly 'proprietary'.  It is not proprietary at
all since elements.txt and queue.txt are in plain text and in an opensource
format.  elements.txt allows us to modify existing items; queue.txt allows
us to add new items in a quasi-xml format.

I think you meant to say that it is a "unique" format that is used only by
memaid.  But because all the information is (also) stored in plain ascii, we
can easily write scripts to convert to and from other more specific standard formats
(assuming there are any specific ones) or general xml/sql schemas

It is relatively easy to parse the elements.txt and make it spit out SQL
or XML to update a database after each memaid session.  That is a major
reason why I have switched to memaid from supermemo.
