default /etc/sudoers in Linux distributions

Hi,

I would like to know whether this is the right mailing list to discuss 
matters that might be of interest for the people working on sudo 
packages for operating systems, Linux distributions etc and whether I am 
the only person doing that kind of work reading this list.

That being said, I'd like to know whether it would make sense to kind of 
coordinate the default /etc/sudoers file that we, distributions, ship 
with our packages. As the maintainer of sudo in Debian, I frequently get 
requests to change the default for some option, or do (not) forward 
certain environment variables to sessions started with sudo. Especially 
the environment variable issue might have security implications, so I 
have to be careful with changes.

The absence of an upstream default sudoers file makes consistence more 
difficult since we didn't have a common ground to start from. the 
example sudoers file in the upstream distribution looks to me more like 
a feature demonstration as like something that is intended to be 
actually used.

It would be nice to have a possibility to ask other distributions "how 
are you doing this, and why are you doing it that way" short of 
maintaining test installations of other distributions and guessing the 
reasons for some decicions.

The goal would be to have "out-of-the-box" sudo behave more consistently 
across distributions.
