Check for valid cached credentials

Hi,

I would like to have my shell prompt show whether the current session
still has valid cached credentials. According to the manual page (in the
documentation for the --no-update option), sudo -Nnv can be used to
check that. However, when there are no credentials cached, this sends
out a mail message every time the command is invoked when there are no
cached credentials.

Can this be avoided? I'd really like to have an option to silently check
for cached credentials, with no mail going out, and preferably no output
that needs piping to /dev/null in the shell prompt command.
