Program names turned into numbers

When downloading from RT UK using XLMTV within FreeGuide running under
Windows XP and 7, I am getting some programs and usually a series of
programs where the program name is serialised as numbers "1,", "2,", "3,"
etc. Here is a search for "2," as an example:-

I am not positive where the problem is occurring in the sequence RT source
data, XMLTV, Freeguide/XMLTV interaction. However the replacement has been
carried out by the time the .ser files are written as the relevant program
names are just numbers (for the problem programs) in those files. So in my
ignorance I am assuming XMLTV writes the .ser files

I have searched this forum, the Freeguide forum and a quick web search, but
s far only found one other result which is in this forum where there is a
reference to program names as numbers as part of a bigger problem that the
poster was having. However no resolution was indicated.

So if anyone else has seen this problem, and especially if the cause is
known I would appreciate it. I have been monitoring since October just in
case it was a temporary hiccup similar to the ongoing empty download
failures which were happening once or twice a week but now seem to be cured
( I haven't had one for at least a month now - touch wood).
