It may depend what program you are using the listings with. I'm using freevo and that just uses a text file into which it collects the data from xmltv, and each time I collect the data the file is created freshly from scratch. In your system you might still have older data left over, and just new things are added. Another thing that could be an issue is the source from where your data is collected from.
