So, I inserted both files, and the grabber, following your instructions 
and ran mythfilldatabase, a wrapper of the grabber as you probably know. 
For about 100 channels, it took 16 minutes for the first day, skipped 
all but last day, and took more than two hours for this one, which was 
completely empty.

The descriptions are in place and I don't mind the time because I'll be 
doing something else.

By the way, reading another post, I'm running an LTS of ubuntu, the 
14.04, and so the less things coming from outside of ubuntu 
repositories, the better for the system stability. So, thank you for 
leading me on installing just the two needed files and the grabber.
