You might also want to look at http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Database_editing_script which is how I deal with it.

The former will need updating now of course. It's a bit of a faff to set up initially, but after that it's not too hard. I did it because the channels keep changing on Freeview, so with the script I can just delete all channels, scan, tweak script if needed, run script.
