Replace programme descriptions with plots looked up from ttvdb or tmdb

Dear list,

I am located in Belgium but English is spoken in my household. I record
programmes from channels that originate in many countries, but I usually
stick to programmes whose original language is English. The fact that
some of them are subtitled (for example in Dutch) is but a mere
inconvenience.

What would however be nice is for the program listings to be in English,
regardless of the channel. So it would for example be nice for the
description of an American movie to be in English even if that movie is
broadcast on a Dutch channel and the metadata therefore comes to me in
Dutch.

So are there any tools for _replacing_ some of the metadata that is
provided by a grabber? The <desc> field comes to mind, but sometimes the
titles of movies and series are also translated, so it would be nice to
translate them back to English (so that duplicate matching also has a
chance to work).

Any ideas?
