getting xmltv-users email; I will have to look
to see why).

One question to the OP.  What version
of MythTV?  I will have to go back to
look at the commits, but I believe all
current supported versions have code
to treat all variants of datetime as UTC
(there was a rather large change by
(I think) stuartm to fix the xmltv date
parsing some time ago).
